Injection Molding Operator (Team Leader)

SUMMARY

Responsible for setting up and operating injection-molding machines to cast products from thermoplastic materials:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Installs dies on machine, according to work order specifications

Sets machine controls, regulating molding temperature, volume of plastic, molding pressure and time, according to knowledge of plastics and molding procedures.

Dumps premixed plastic powders or pellets into hopper, and starts machine.

Pulls lever to close dies and inject plastic into dies to cast part.

Removes finished product from dies, using hand tools.

Trims excess material from part, using knife.

May mix thermoplastic materials and coloring pigments in mixing machine, according to formula. May grind scrap plastic into powder for reuse.

Troubleshoot and Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis.

Program PLC's.

Communicate with maintenance department for enhancing the productivity

Maintain and secure work tools.

Clean and maintain work area.

Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform Operators Team Leader Roll for starting up operation

Perform personnel management roll for operators

Provide on-the-job training to new employees.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.

Advanced skills & experience required in at least 4 years experience in injection molding press and PLC programming. (Company equipped with 2500 ton, 1800 ton, 650 ton, and 450 ton.

Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.

Korean Bilingual Preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 30 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
